Tell us about yourself
Tim Jemal has over 20 years of experience in public affairs, legislative and political advocacy and strategic communications in California, nationally and internationally. Tim has a long and proven record of success in managing public outreach, awareness, fund-development and issue-based advocacy campaigns. Tim lives by the motto that “every campaign is a cause.”

In addition to serving as CEO of Jemal Public Affairs, Tim is the Executive Director of the Technology Leadership Political Action Committee (tlpac.com). The Technology Leadership Political Action Committee TLPAC is a bipartisan organization that will increase participation among small and medium high-tech firms to impact public policy issues vital to economic growth and quality of life in the US.

Prior to founding Jemal Public Affairs, Tim served as the Senior Vice President of Government Relations for the Cyber Security Industry Alliance (CSIA), the only national trade association dedicated to ensuring the privacy, reliability and integrity of information systems and consumer data. As CSIA’s chief lobbyist, Jemal played a central role in lobbying for unanimous approval by the U.S. Senate (November 2007) of cyber crime legislation sponsored by Senate Judiciary Chairman Patrick Leahy that would provide new tools to federal prosecutors to combat identity theft and other computer crimes. He served as a national spokesperson on the cyber threats to US national security.

Tim also recently served as the Executive Director of the American Electronics Association (AeA) of Orange County and the Inland Empire. At AeA, Tim revitalized the Chapter’s government relations program and increased organizational revenues through corporate sponsorships, grant funding and program revenues. He managed Southern California’s premier event in the technology community, the High-Tech Innovation Awards attended by more than 600 including community leaders, members of Congress, state legislators, university officials, K-12 educators-parents-students and technology company executives. He broke new ground producing an acclaimed video on American Competitiveness featuring industry, government and academic leaders.

Prior to his AeA appointment, Tim directed a statewide California campaign that united long-term care health systems, seniors and community-based organizations and the state’s largest health care union to pass landmark nursing home reform legislation signed by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Earlier in his career, Tim directed national public affairs activities for the Armenian Assembly of America, the largest Armenian American advocacy organization in the United States. Despite formidable political and media opposition, Tim directed a national legislative, media and grassroots advocacy campaign for the Armenian Assembly that secured over $1billion in federal economic, humanitarian and military assistance and led to passage of major human rights legislation sponsored by hundreds of members of Congress.

Tim has appeared frequently as a spokesperson to print, broadcast and on-line media to discuss business and public policy issues. He has been interviewed by and facilitated story placements with major national and international media outlets including ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, Washington Post, Washington Times, Wall Street Journal/Wall Street Journal on-line, LA Times, National Journal, Congressional Quarterly, Boston Globe, SC Magazine.com, Sacramento Bee, Orange County Register, LA Daily News, San Bernardino Sun, Riverside Press Enterprise, S. California Public Television, Orange County Cox Community Forum, Nightline, National Public Radio (NPR), Voice of America, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty and others.

Tim earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from Michigan State University and an MBA degree in International Business from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
